The Fender Stratocaster 0001 is a 1954 Stratocaster carrying the ceremonial serial number 0001, made by Leo Fender not as the literal first Stratocaster off the line (that distinction belongs to serial 0100, now owned by collector George Gruhn) but as a symbolic piece for a distributor. David Gilmour acquired it in 1978 from his guitar technician Phil Taylor, who had bought it from Seymour Duncan for 900 dollars. Gilmour used it on Pink Floyds The Wall, including the guitar line on Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, and has called it the perfect Stratocaster, though its rarity means it is seldom seen live.
The Gibson EDS-1275 is the doubleneck model forever associated with Jimmy Page, who used one to play both the six-string and twelve-string parts of Stairway to Heaven live without switching instruments mid-song, most famously captured in Led Zeppelin's concert film footage. Combining a six-string neck and a twelve-string neck on one solid mahogany body, each with its own set of humbuckers and a selector to choose which neck is active, it let Page cover a song's full arrangement solo on stage in a way no single guitar could. Gibson has periodically reissued the EDS-1275 in Page's honor, and the model remains inseparable from Led Zeppelin's most iconic song and Page's reputation for pushing what a single guitarist could do live.
