This 1964 Fender Stratocaster in Lake Placid Blue is a custom-colour example from the pre-CBS era, the period before Fenders 1965 sale to CBS that collectors generally regard as the peak of the original Stratocaster design. Lake Placid Blue was one of Fenders DuPont automotive-derived custom colours, offered at a premium over the standard sunburst finish, and surviving examples in original custom colours are prized well beyond a standard-finish instrument from the same year. It is catalogued here with a Jimmy Page association.
The Charvel Model 2 comes from the Japanese-built Model series of 1986-88, positioned above the entry Model 1 with a single bridge humbucker straight to a volume control and a Kahler-style locking tremolo. Stripping out the tone circuit and neck pickup was deliberate: the series was built for the high-gain shred playing the pointed headstock had come to signal.
