Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Description

Jimi Hendrix played a white 1967 Gibson SG Custom, a mahogany-bodied, three-humbucker guitar he first used at a Rhode Island Auditorium show in November 1968 and later played, strung for a right-handed guitar despite his left-handed technique, on The Dick Cavett Show on September 9 1969 for a medley of Izabella and Machine Gun. It was also seen at Woodstock. The three humbuckers gave a thicker, more powerful tone than the single-coil Stratocasters most associated with Hendrix, and the white finish has aged to a pale yellow over the decades since.

Gibson Tony Iommi SG Special signature model featuring chrome-covered P-90 pickups, mahogany body and rounded-profile neck, medium jumbo frets, and hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors. The Iommi SG delivers super resonant, punchy P-90 tone with the warmth and clarity of vintage design.
