This entry covers a boutique AA Audio pedal combining rotary speaker simulation with phaser and vibe modes in a single three-way toggle format, letting a player switch between three related but distinct modulation textures without needing separate dedicated pedals for each. Rotary, phaser, and vibe effects all share a family resemblance, swirling, pitch-and-amplitude-modulated tones descended from spinning Leslie speaker cabinets, but each produces a meaningfully different character, and packaging all three into one footprint reflects a common approach among smaller boutique builders trying to offer maximum tonal range from minimal pedalboard real estate.
The Fender The Pinwheel is a rotary speaker simulator pedal from Fender, delivering Leslie-style spinning speaker simulation with Slow and Fast rotor modes, Ramp Time for rotor acceleration control, and Drive for adding harmonic drive character to the rotary effect. The Pinwheel simulates both the upper horn and lower rotor of a Leslie cabinet for authentic rotary speaker character.
