Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Aguilar OBP-1TK is a 2-band boost-only on-board bass preamp using all-discrete FET circuitry for passive bass guitar installation. It provides up to 18dB of boost at 40Hz for bass frequencies and 4kHz for treble with separate pots in the TK configuration. Compatible with 9V or 18V operation. The circuit has a characteristic inherent mid-scoop that adds a modern scooped character even at unity settings making it well suited to slap bass, funk, and R&B rather than mid-forward blues or rock contexts. Low noise floor and high headroom reproduce full bass dynamics cleanly.

The Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp is an all-analog bass effects pedal replicating the preamp circuit of the iconic Ampeg SVT amplifier in compact pedal format. A three-band EQ provides Bass at +7/-20 dB at 40 Hz, Mid at +5/-11 dB at 500 Hz, and Treble at +10/-10 dB at 4 kHz, with a preamp gain stage capable of +18 dB boost. Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo passive tone switches shape the frequency response for classic SVT character. True bypass, 9V DC at 20mA, internal -15 dB pad for active basses. Matte black die-cast zinc chassis measuring 2.2 by 2.4 by 4.5 inches, weighing 0.6 lb.
