A Contour control sweeps from transparent and glassy at low settings to fat, gritty, and powerful at high settings, making the pedal function as a transparent clean boost or a harmonically richer boost edging into light overdrive. A Tone control adjusts high-frequency content and the Volume can push enough signal to drive a tube amp into natural breakup. Works well as an EQ sculptor or low-gain tone enhancer in almost any chain position.
The Boss OD-3 Overdrive is a warm, fat, and notably transparent overdrive built on a two-stage circuit, loosely voiced after a cranked Marshall JCM 900.
