The Alexander Pedals SpaceXpander is a discontinued three-mode digital reverb from Alexander's early catalog with a silent footswitch and buffered bypass with optional trails mode. Three modes: SPRING (adjustable tone and virtual tank size), PLATE (with pre-delay and damping producing tails up to 25 seconds), and ANALOG (emulating the Panasonic MN3011 six-tap multi-tap BBD chip to produce an unusual rhythmically percussive reverb character). The Space knob on Analog mode slides from reverb-length to delay-length tails. Available only used.
The Strymon NightSky is an experimental time-warped reverberator, closer to a reverberant synthesis workstation than a conventional reverb. A Texture control selects three characters: Sparse, which behaves almost like a delay under staccato playing and smooths out on sustained notes; Dense, a thick plate-like wash that becomes chaotic at long decay times; and Diffuse, a wide, expansive ambient voice. The reverb core runs at a variable process rate, so the size of the space and the pitch of the tail can be swept smoothly or quantised to musical scales. A Voice section tunes shimmer to a specific interval, applied either into or inside the core, and tone, modulation, glimmer and drive shape the character further, reaching bright, cinematic and deliberately unnatural textures.
