The Amptweaker FatRock is a rock distortion pedal designed by James Brown as a warmer evolution of the TightRock, developed in response to player requests for a version better suited to brighter guitars and amplifiers. Compared to the TightRock, the FatRock extends the low range of the Tight and Tone controls, adds a fixed Fat boost at the front end for a slightly softer attack, and boosts the low-end in the output EQ. An EQ switch converts the tone stack to PlexEQ mode for classic vintage stack character. Three effects loops including the SideTrak loop active when the pedal is off allow complex routing.
The Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer Classic is a 1986-1990 Japanese-made evolution of the Tube Screamer circuit, built with quieter internal circuitry that eliminated the audible chirp some earlier Tube Screamers produced with the controls turned up. It shares the same mid-focused, smooth overdrive character as the TS9 and TS808, with a pronounced midrange hump that pushes an already-driven tube amp into more sustain and harmonic richness. For years it was an overlooked, underappreciated entry in the Tube Screamer lineage, but it has become closely associated with John Mayer's Dumble-style blues tone, drawing renewed attention to its smooth, vintage Tube Screamer voicing.
