Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Analog Man King of Tone is a dual-channel overdrive built around a modified Marshall Bluesbreaker circuit, widely regarded as one of the most transparent low-gain overdrives ever made. Each of its two independent sides offers volume, drive, and tone controls, with internal switches for clean boost, overdrive, or light distortion voicings. It preserves the natural character of the guitar and amp, keeping the low end intact, the mids uncluttered, and the treble smooth rather than fizzy. Famous for years-long waitlists, it is favored for warm, dynamic, amp-like grit in blues, classic rock, and roots styles. Players use it as an always-on transparent boost or stack both sides as two overdrives.

The Wampler Ratsbane is a compact, Rat-style op-amp distortion/fuzz pedal with Volume, Filter (Hi-Cut), and Distortion controls, expanded well beyond a standard Rat clone by a 3-way Gain Structure switch (center: stock Rat-style gain; left: high/mid-boosted fuzz; right: higher, full-frequency gain) and a 2-way Voicing switch (left: classic scooped Rat tone; right: modern, mid-pushed voicing). Built with a socketed op-amp and true bypass switching in a mini pedalboard-friendly enclosure, it draws minimal current (2.5mA at 9V).
