The Beetronics Buzzter is a transparent clean boost and preamp pedal from the bee-themed boutique Beetronics FX lineup. It delivers a completely uncolored boost with enough gain range to set up two distinct output levels, making it practical for switching between rhythm and lead volumes. A dual-footswitch design enables switching between two preset output levels without bending down to adjust knobs. It can also push the front end of a low-wattage tube amp to produce natural overdrive from the amp itself. Part of Beetronics distinctive steampunk aesthetic lineup.
The Frost Giant Electronics Yama is a preamp and boost pedal from boutique builder Frost Giant Electronics, priced around $179. The Yama functions as a clean boost at unity or below its noon position, providing transparent signal lift and tone shaping, and transitions into driven character when pushed with the volume control turned up. It can be placed at the beginning of the signal chain for overall tone shaping or at the end to lift the full chain output level. Its controls offer the player a range from transparent boost to pushed preamp gain character.
