Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. The Binson Echorec is a legendary Italian magnetic drum echo unit produced by Binson from the late 1950s through the 1970s. Unlike tape echo units, the Echorec uses a rotating magnetic drum with multiple playback heads to produce echo, reverb-like wash, and complex rhythm patterns. A rotary rhythm selector chooses from multiple echo patterns by combining different playback heads. Input level control shapes the saturation character of the drum recording. Used extensively by Pink Floyd (Syd Barrett, David Gilmour), The Edge (U2), and many other artists of the 1960s and 1970s. Original units are highly sought after on the vintage market. Reproduced by Dawner Prince Electronics as the Boonar.
The Keeley Halo Core is a streamlined, compact version of the Halo Andy Timmons Dual Echo, distilling the signature modulated diffusion delay into three modes: Andy's iconic HALO sound, Quarter Note, and Dotted Eighth. It produces cascading, dancing repeats held together with tape-style modulation, saturation, and compression, creating a reverb-like diffusion that stays out of the way of the dry guitar. Features include true stereo input and output, switchable trails or true bypass, infinite repeats, and tap-controllable subdivisions including dotted-eighth, quarter-note, and golden-ratio stacked echoes. Its brushed black and silver enclosure feels premium and road-ready. It suits ambient leads and expansive stereo textures, delivering the celebrated Halo voice in a smaller footprint.
