Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Blackstar CV10 is Carmen Vandenberg's signature 10-watt 1x12 tube guitar combo amplifier, built around a single 6L6 output tube and ECC83 preamp tube. Designed around the Studio 10 6L6 platform, it blends American 6L6 brightness and dynamic output character with Class A British chime and shimmer. A built-in overdrive circuit inspired by the Blackstar HT-Drive pedal extends the single channel from dynamic clean crunch through singing, smooth legato lead tones. A Celestion Seventy-80 12-inch speaker, simplified controls (Gain, Tone, Reverb, Master Volume), and streamlined layout make it a focused single-voice blues and rock tool. Limited to 130 units with a Vandenberg-autographed certificate.

The Dr. Z Z-Wreck is a 30-watt EL84 head developed with Ken Fischer of Trainwreck Amplifiers, and the last design Fischer worked on. It pairs Vox-style class-A chime with a harder, more aggressive midrange and an unusually stiff feel, and includes a rear-panel power scaling control. Brad Paisley championed the design, and it remains Dr. Z's flagship.
