Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Blackstar Dept. 10 Boost is a tube-driven clean boost pedal based on a Class A valve gain stage with passive James-Baxandall-style EQ providing up to 25dB of boost. The center Baxandall position delivers uncolored clean boost; adjusting the control applies shelf boosts or cuts in both bass and treble simultaneously. Used to push other pedals harder, as a clean level boost for soloing, or to drive a tube amp input into natural saturation. The valve gain stage adds gentle harmonic saturation as it approaches the gain limit, distinguishing it from solid-state boost alternatives.

The Vox CT-03BT Cooltron Brit Boost is a battery-powered boost pedal built around Cooltron technology, running a real 12AU7 preamp tube at safe low voltages to preserve authentic tube dynamics and harmonics without external power. Controls include a Treble Boost/Full Range Boost switch, Gain, Tone, and Volume, with true bypass switching. Treble Boost mode emphasizes upper-midrange and treble frequencies for a classic British chime, while Full Range Boost adds low-mid and bottom-end content, useful for pushing an already-driven amp into heavier overdrive.
