Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Carl Martin Hot Drive N Boost mkI is an early version of the Danish maker's dual-function transparent overdrive and clean boost pedal. It combines an overdrive circuit with an independent, adjustable clean boost of up to 20dB, each with its own bypass switch. The Wave tone control shapes the overdrive character from tight and tube-like at low settings to more open and dynamic at higher positions. Produced in Denmark, it delivers a natural, British-influenced overdrive tone for blues and rock players seeking a studio-quality transparent drive without excessive coloration.

The Revv G2 is a preamp, overdrive and distortion pedal reproducing the Green channel of Revv's Generator amplifiers, with the widest gain and EQ range in the company's pedal line. A three-way switch gives three distinct voices: Off is a full-range clean boost with the three-band EQ still active; Blue is the Green channel's signature touch-responsive breakup; and Red delivers a more authentic, amp-like saturated gain feel. On its own it is open, woody and chewy, with the dynamic response of a cranked tube amp rather than a compressed pedal distortion, which has made it a favourite of Nashville session players for its clarity and dynamics. It works equally as a classic crunch box, a boost to push a tube amp into sweet saturation, or an always-on drive, covering both rhythm and lead duty. The V2 refines the original circuit.
