Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. The Carl Martin Ottawa is an analog optical envelope filter pedal delivering vintage auto-wah and filter sweep effects triggered by picking attack. Three selectable filter modes (High Pass, Band Pass, Low Pass) provide distinct frequency response characters. Q control shapes resonance, while Attack and Tone controls adjust filter timing and high-frequency content. Approximately 14mA current draw. Danish boutique analog construction. Produces classic funky envelope filter tones for guitar and bass without a treadle.
The Spaceman Artemis is a hand-wired boutique modulated filter built around a two-pole state-variable design with simultaneous high-pass, band-pass and low-pass outputs. Unlike most filter pedals it does not force a choice between responses: a mixer section blends them, so combining high-pass and low-pass produces notch filtering, and modulating that notch with the LFO yields convincing phaser and vibrato voices. With up to 10dB of boost and infinite cut per band it offers more tone-shaping range than many dedicated EQs. A seven-mode modulation bus drives the filter from conventional sweeps to outright bizarre animation, and envelope control sweeps the filter in either direction for vocal, quacking, funky auto-wah movement or downward synth-like swells. Built in Portland, Oregon with true-bypass relay switching and soft-touch footswitches.
