Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Description

The Catalinbread Airstrip is an overdrive and preamp pedal chasing the sound of a vintage Trident A-Range channel strip, a console preamp used on legendary recordings. Excels at a wide range of gain-shaping tasks from surgical boost and EQ shadings to fuzzy, filtered, ready-to-rip-through-a-mix tones associated with Jimmy Page, Beatles, and Neil Young recordings. Priced at $179. Built by Catalinbread in Portland, Oregon. Suited for classic rock and studio-style players who want console preamp-inspired overdrive and EQ color.

The Catalinbread Epoch Boost is a preamp and buffer pedal that employs the same circuitry as the Echoplex EP-3 tape echo unit preamp stage, using NOS Orange Drop capacitors to accurately capture its warm, slightly colored tone. The Boost control delivers the EP-3 tonal character when rolled off, plus up to 20dB of crystal-clear boost as the knob increases. Internally upscaled from 9V to 22V for authentic headroom. True bypass switching plus a switchable buffer mode for long cable runs. Power draw only 2mA at 9V DC.
