Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The Charvel Model 2 comes from the Japanese-built Model series of 1986-88, positioned above the entry Model 1 with a single bridge humbucker straight to a volume control and a Kahler-style locking tremolo. Stripping out the tone circuit and neck pickup was deliberate: the series was built for the high-gain shred playing the pointed headstock had come to signal.

John Frusciante bought this 1963 Fender Stratocaster in the early 2000s and used it briefly as a backup during the 2001 Red Hot Chili Peppers tour, standing in for his primary 1962 sunburst Strat, the guitar that has been his main instrument for over three decades. He has described enjoying the guitar but finding it impractical to keep rotating between it and his other instruments, so it saw only limited stage time before its later whereabouts became unclear, aside from being photographed for Vintage Guitar magazine's April 2009 issue. As a 1963 Strat it carries the same core alder-body, three-single-coil layout as his main guitar from the surrounding years, without the specific wear history and personal significance of his 1962 sunburst.
