Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Chase Bliss Gravitas is an all-analog tremolo pedal offering three core tremolo types: a vintage opto-style tremolo, a harmonic tremolo inspired by the 1961 brownface Fender Twin, and a blend of the two, built around Analog Devices AD823 op-amps for clean tonal clarity. An additional mod-shape circuit and deep digital control over the analog signal path let it recreate nearly any historic tremolo style, from simple volume modulation to complex warbling patterns, making it one of the most expansive tremolo pedals available. It appeals to both purists who want a pristine all-analog signal path and players who want modern features like presets, expression control, tap tempo and full MIDI implementation layered on top.
CMAT Mods, founded by Chad Matthews and later developed further with pedal builder Greg Blessing, built the Tremoglo as an all-analog tremolo pedal capturing the warm, smooth pulse found in vintage amplifier tremolo circuits, deliberately avoiding the audible clicking or popping some tremolo designs produce when switching on and off. Beyond standard Depth, Speed, and Level controls, a three-way toggle switches an onboard LED on or off to visually flash in time with the tremolo's speed, or moves to a center position that disengages the tremolo modulation entirely and turns the circuit into a clean boost or preamp instead, giving the pedal genuine dual functionality beyond its tremolo effect alone.
