Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.52% — moderately similar

The Crate Vintage Club 50 (VC5212) is a 50-watt all-valve 2x12 combo running four EL84s in the power section with 12AX7s in front — an unusual choice at this wattage, since EL84s are more often found in 15-30 watt British designs. Pushing four of them to 50 watts gives the compressed, chimey break-up of a smaller class-A amp with enough output to hold a stage, which is why the early-90s Vintage Club series still has a following.
The Vox AC30 is a 30-watt Class A tube combo built around four EL84 power tubes, prized above all for its bright, chimey top end — the amp that defined the British Invasion jangle and later carried The Edge's shimmer and Brian May's Queen tone. Its Normal and Top Boost (Brilliant) channels sharpen that chime further, while the Class A power stage breaks up naturally and musically when pushed. Where a Fender-style clean scoops the mids, the AC30 pushes them forward, so chords ring with sparkle and single notes cut through a mix.
