The Danelectro 59 DC is built the way Danelectros always were: a pine frame with Masonite front and back rather than a solid body, which keeps it very light and gives a hollow, slightly honky resonance. Its lipstick-tube pickups are literally wound into surplus lipstick casings, producing a thin, bright, jangly voice with far less output than a conventional single-coil.
