The ThorpyFX Pulse Doppler is an all-analogue twin-notch four-stage phaser developed with original Lovetone designer Dan Coggins, effectively a MkII of his 1995 Doppelganger in a far more compact and usable form. Multiple operating modes span classic phase shifting, pitch-wobbling vibrato, pure pulsating tremolo and a range of points in between. Depth, Rate, Blend, Enhance and Manual controls, plus two toggles and two footswitches, let it mimic the sweep of an MXR Phase 90 or an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone as well as Uni-Vibe throb and rotary-speaker shadings, though its overall tonality is brighter than a genuine '70s unit. Separate dry and wet outputs make it a true stereo effect, where its psychedelic swirl is most persuasive. It rewards learning rather than being plug-and-play. Built in a military-grade aircraft aluminium enclosure.
