It is designed to add gain while preserving the natural tone and dynamics of your guitar and amp rather than coloring them, with cleverly voiced Bass and Treble controls that cut rather than boost to fine tune the low and high end. A three way clipping switch offers different diode clipping flavors, from open and dynamic to more compressed. It ranges from a clean, edge of breakup boost to medium overdrive, making it a favorite for blues, rock, country and players who want their amp's character to shine through.
The Tone City Dry Martini is a budget mini overdrive inspired by the Fulltone OCD, delivering that pedal's bright, aggressive and amp-like drive character in a compact enclosure. It works either as a low-gain boost or as a potent medium-gain drive into a clean amp, with Gain, Tone and Volume controls plus a Strong switch that increases low-end definition and adds body. The voice is crisp and energetic with a pronounced upper-midrange edge that cuts well with humbucker-equipped guitars such as Les Pauls and PRS models. It is very touch-sensitive, cleaning up with guitar volume, though that sensitivity can produce volume spikes with uneven picking, and the tone control darkens the sound quickly when rolled back. An affordable way to get driven amp tones at low volume.
