The Way Huge Doom Hammer Fuzz, model WM45, is a mini-format fuzz pedal from Way Huge by Jim Dunlop, based on Jeorge Tripps modification of a 1978 op-amp Big Muff circuit originally modified for the band Oranger. The Doom Hammer design is characterized by taut low-end control and more mid-presence compared to standard op-amp Big Muff designs, producing a dense, buzzy fuzz with a nasty, brash quality suited to doom metal, punk, and heavy rock applications. Premier Guitar reviewed the pedal as punky and brash with a pronounced midrange one associates with op-amp Big Muffs.
The Mojo Hand FX Colossus is a Big Muff-style fuzz with added flexibility, including a mids control to combat the typical Muff scoop. Used by Eric Gales, it delivers a thick, saturated, sustaining fuzz that can cut through a mix better than a stock Muff. It suits blues-rock and rock lead wanting massive, singing fuzz with usable midrange.
