Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.48% — somewhat different

The EarthQuaker Devices Warden is an optical compressor offering smooth, transparent and highly controllable dynamics. Using an optical gain reduction circuit, it delivers warm, musical compression with full control via tone, attack, release, sustain, level and ratio controls, far more adjustable than a typical stompbox compressor. It ranges from subtle leveling and gentle thickening to heavy, squashed, sustaining compression, and the tone control helps recover any high end lost under compression. It suits country, funk, blues, ambient and studio players who want a refined, flexible optical compressor for evening out dynamics, adding sustain and shaping pick attack with a smooth, natural character.
The MXR Custom Comp CSP202 is a compact compressor pedal built around the coveted CA3080 'metal can' chip from the vintage Dyna Comp era, delivering smooth, musical compression with added sustain and punch. Voiced for transparency and snap, it is favored by country, funk, and clean players wanting classic MXR squash with refined, low-noise performance.
