It spans classic 1950s-style shimmering tremolo through a synthy, delay-like chop that breaks the signal into short pings, on up toward near ring-modulation speeds at its fastest settings. Three selectable modes, slow, mid-tempo, and fast, combine with Rate and Depth controls for a wide range of amplitude-modulation textures, and the Rate is expression-pedal controllable for real-time changes. Turned fully counterclockwise it produces no chop at all and works as a simple clean JFET boost. It suits players wanting a versatile, characterful tremolo that ranges from vintage amp-style pulse to glitchy, synth-like chopping.
The Electronic Audio Experiments Limelight is a dual-channel overdrive pedal developed in collaboration with the LA punk band Touche Amore, starting from a Bluesbreaker-inspired circuit reworked with mods borrowed from Marshall's classic Bluesbreaker and Shredmaster designs, where one pot changes the gain of two cascaded stages together, blended with a Tube-Screamer-influenced voicing for a unique combination of aggression and chime. Independent boost and drive circuits, up to 21dB of clean boost, and a Focus toggle for low-end cut give real range, all through relay-based true bypass switching that defaults to bypass on power loss. The response stays open and dynamic with a bright, chiming top end that never turns brittle and a low end that stays tight even at higher gain, responding strongly to picking dynamics.
