The EarthQuaker Devices x KGR Harmony Cast Iron Plumes is a 100-unit, individually numbered limited edition of the standard Plumes overdrive, distinguished entirely by its hand-cast iron enclosure. The casing was made by Oitomi Ironworks in Iwate, Japan using Nanbu-tekki, a centuries-old Japanese ironworking technique traditionally used for cast-iron teapots, in collaboration with pedal builder Keijiro "KG" Fukushima of KGR Harmony. The underlying circuit, the same all-analog Tube Screamer-style transparent overdrive with a three-way Clipping switch found on the standard Plumes, is unchanged; the edition's value is in its handcrafted enclosure and extreme scarcity.
The Walrus Audio Eons Five-State Fuzz is a fuzz pedal built around a five-way mode switch offering drastically different clipping styles: traditional silicon clipping fuzz, silicon clipping with extra low-end oomph, germanium fuzz bordering on distortion, dynamically dark LED clipping, and a hybrid mode pairing hard-clipping silicon with softer LED and soft-clipping diodes. A distinctive Voltage knob varies the pedal's internal current from 3 to 18 volts, letting players dial in anything from a sagging, unstable "dying battery" fuzz character to a tighter, more compressed tone at full voltage. It's the third release in Walrus Audio's Five-State series, following the Ages overdrive and Era distortion.
