The Electro-Harmonix Hot Wax is a dual overdrive pedal from EHX combining two separate drive circuits in a single enclosure: the Crayon Full-Range Overdrive and the Glove OD. Each channel has independent Volume, Gain, and EQ controls, and the two channels can run independently or in series in either order. The Crayon delivers full-bandwidth transparent overdrive without the midrange hump of TS-style designs, while the Glove delivers op-amp Big Muff-derived overdrive with richer harmonic coloring. The combination provides a versatile dual-drive platform covering transparent boost through harmonically rich overdrive in a single enclosure.
The ZVEX Double Rock Vexter was originally designed at the request of J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., who wanted two Box of Rock circuits combined in one enclosure with independent stomp switches. Each of its two channels can be configured as either a Distortron circuit or a Super Hard-On boost circuit, letting players build combinations like two cascaded Distortrons, two cascaded Super Hard-Ons, a Box of Rock paired with a boost, or a Super Hard-On feeding into a Box of Rock. Adjustable sub-frequency controls carry over from the Distortron circuit, giving low-end shaping alongside the flexible channel routing. In effect, it condenses elements of three separate ZVEX pedals into a single, highly configurable dual-stage unit.
