The Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen is a collaboration octave fuzz pedal developed between EHX and JHS, delivering a Muff-adjacent fuzz character with a blendable upper-octave harmonic that adds a singing, distinctive overtone layer to sustained notes. Unlike octave fuzzes that switch the octave fully on or off, the Lizard Queen allows continuous blending of the octave harmonic into the fuzz character, enabling subtle octave coloring at low blend settings or a full octave-dominant presence at maximum blend. Premier Guitar reviewed the Lizard Queen as very Muffish with excellent headroom for dynamic playing while still delivering screaming saturation.
The Tru-Fi Super Fuzz PBF Compact Version is a smaller-format, hand-built USA clone of the Univox Super Fuzz, a uniquely aggressive and retro fuzz circuit using two germanium diodes for octave fuzz generation and square-wave clipping. Controls cover volume, fuzz amount, and a blend pot that replaces the original's tone switch, while full-wave rectification produces both upper and lower octave harmonics along with natural compression and a mild ring-modulator-like texture.
