The Gibson ES-5 was introduced in 1949 as a full-depth archtop carrying three P-90s — unusual then and rare since — with individual volume controls for each and no selector switch on the earliest version. The 17-inch body gives a broad, airy acoustic component, and the three-pickup layout allows blends no two-pickup archtop can reach.
PRS Al Di Meola Prism is a double-cutaway signature model featuring a 25-inch scale length, carved curly maple top with multicolor prism-like finish, mahogany back, 1957/2008 pickups, and a custom Al Di Meola neck carve with 10-inch radius. The longer scale and extended upper-fret access support the virtuosic jazz-fusion playing Al Di Meola is known for.
