The Gibson Larry Carlton ES-335 is the signature semi-hollow of 'Mr. 335', based on his beloved 1969 ES-335. It combines the ES-335's warm, sustaining, feedback-resistant semi-hollow voice with refined appointments suited to Carlton's smooth jazz, blues and fusion playing. The center block tames feedback while the body adds warmth and bloom, giving singing leads and full chords.

The Guild Nightingale is an archtop-style electric with a carved spruce top and mahogany back and sides, built to bridge Guild's jazz-guitar heritage with a body comfortable enough for a working blues player's regular gigging schedule. Buddy Guy, whose main stage instruments are his Fender Stratocasters, most famously the polka-dot Buddy Guy Standard, has also played a Guild Nightingale, giving him access to the warmer, more resonant archtop voice a solid-body Strat can't produce when a song calls for a rounder, jazzier blues tone. Its single or dual humbucker configuration, depending on the exact model year, and semi-hollow-adjacent construction sit it between a full jazz box and a solid-body electric in both weight and tonal character.
