The Gibson Les Paul Axcess is the Custom Shop's answer to the model's two long-standing complaints: a contoured belly cut on the back and a heavily sculpted neck heel that makes the upper frets reachable. Most examples add coil-splitting and a Floyd Rose routed into a body that traditionally cannot take one, making it the Les Paul aimed at players who otherwise use a superstrat.
The Gibson Les Paul Classic pairs a 1960-style slim taper neck with high-output ceramic humbuckers — a 496R at the neck and a 500T at the bridge — rather than the vintage-voiced pickups the Standard carries. The result is louder and more aggressive than a traditional Les Paul, with the '1960' script on the pickguard marking the neck spec rather than the electronics.
