The Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst is a Les Paul Custom finished in the rare metallic silver-to-black burst, a solid mahogany body with maple cap, ebony fretboard and a heavier build than a standard Custom. Adam Jones of Tool made the 1979 example iconic, his number one guitar, modified with a high-output ceramic Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge and a reverse-mounted neck humbucker for contrast. The result is a warm, thick, sustaining voice with aggressive bridge snarl and a darker, fuller neck tone, ideal for heavy, atmospheric progressive and alternative metal. It excels at down-tuned riffing and brooding cleans, leaning dark and powerful rather than bright.
Gibson Tony Iommi Signature Monkey SG Special, based on Iommis heavily modified 1964 original, featuring chrome-covered P-90 pickups, mahogany body and neck with rounded profile, adjustable wraparound bridge, and hand-wired Orange Drop capacitors.
