Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. The Ibanez Iceman, launched in 1975, was one of the first original body shapes from a Japanese maker rather than a copy — an asymmetric outline with a long lower horn and a sharply cut treble side. Paul Stanley played one through Kiss's peak years, and the shape has been reissued repeatedly since, usually with humbuckers and a set neck.
The Ibanez RX20 was Gary Clark Jr's very first guitar, given to him for Christmas in 1996 when he was twelve years old, a black solid body with a maple neck and a humbucker-P90-humbucker pickup layout typical of Ibanez's budget-oriented RX line from that era. It would be another five years before he picked up the more prized Blazer BL1025 that became his main long-term instrument, making the RX20 the true starting point of his entire guitar journey rather than a footnote before his real gear began. As an entry-level 1980s-designed Ibanez, it prioritized affordability and playability for beginners over premium tonewoods or hardware, exactly the kind of guitar that put a real instrument in a young player's hands without a steep price barrier.
