Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.33% — somewhat different

The ISP Technologies Empyrean is Michael Sweet's signature distortion, built around ISP's noise-reduction expertise: the pedal integrates their Decimator gating so that very high gain stays usable without a separate gate in the chain. Voiced for the tight, saturated modern-metal rhythm sound Sweet uses in Stryper, with the low end kept controlled rather than loose.
The T Lab Custom Audio Rock Preamp is a boutique preamp/overdrive pedal built to deliver classic rock-voiced tonal coloration and gain, reflecting T Lab Custom Audio's focus on carefully-designed circuit recreations and original boutique circuits. It offers players an accessible route to a specific, rock-oriented preamp character.
