Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Description

The J. Rockett Animal is a high-gain overdrive pedal from J. Rockett Audio Designs (JRAD) based on the Marshall Shredmaster circuit, one of the most celebrated vintage British high-gain distortion designs from the early 1990s. The Shredmaster circuit was used by Radiohead Thom Yorke and others, and its distinctive mid-forward high-gain character has been influential in alternative and heavy rock. The Animal delivers the Shredmaster-inspired voicing with J. Rockett premium Nashville construction quality.

The RHC Audio Ydrat is the ProCo You Dirty Rat (YDRAT), a Rat-family distortion pedal sitting between distortion and fuzz, with germanium clipping diodes giving it a warmer, more classic character than the standard silicon-diode Rat. It includes the legendary Rat Filter control and roughly 3dB more compression than the original Rat, adding extra sustain and tube-amp-like warmth. Its sound sits in classic 1960s garage-rock and early-punk territory, the most vintage-voiced of the Rat-family distortion pedals. It suits players wanting a warmer, germanium-flavored take on the classic Rat distortion circuit.
