The Palmer Pocket Amp Bass is a compact bass preamp and DI pedal designed to deliver a shaped, amp-like tone directly to a PA, mixer, or recording interface without requiring a full bass amplifier. Palmer built its reputation primarily on speaker simulation and reactive load technology for guitar amps, and this bass-focused preamp extends that direct-recording philosophy to bass players who want reliable, professional tone without depending on backline gear at every gig or session. It typically includes EQ shaping and a balanced output alongside its core preamp function, positioning it as a practical tool for touring and studio bassists alike.
The Walrus Audio Mantle is an analog bass preamp and DI from Walrus Audio (Oklahoma City, USA), co-developed with session bassist Ian Martin Allison, featuring rotary EQ switches with eleven positions offering both filter and boost options across different frequency ranges, plus a DI output for direct recording.
