The Pigtronix Octava Micro is a compact octave-up fuzz, a smaller-format version of the Pigtronix Octava. It generates a harmonically rich upper octave above the played note and blends it with a saturated fuzz voice, giving the searing, vocal, ring-modulated character associated with classic octave-fuzz circuits. The octave effect tracks most clearly on single notes played above the twelfth fret and around the neck pickup, and turns thick and intermodulated on chords, which is characteristic of the design rather than a fault.
The Tru-Fi Super Fuzz Version 2 is a hand-built USA clone of the Univox Super Fuzz, using two germanium diodes for octave fuzz generation and square-wave clipping, with full-wave rectification producing both upper and lower octave harmonics plus natural compression and a mild ring-modulator-like effect. Version 2 adds a switchable octave mode, letting players choose between the classic Super Fuzz octave-and-ring-modulation tinge or flip to a tighter, nastier fuzz voicing with no octave artifacts.
