PRS Santana Signature is a double-cutaway guitar with a 24.5-inch scale, chambered mahogany body with flame maple veneer, custom Santana humbuckers, and the PRS patented molded tremolo. The signature model combines the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul without the weight, featuring a wide neck shape and smooth sustain characteristic of Santanas genre-blending playing style.
The Yamaha SG2000 was built in 1976 with Carlos Santana's input and is neck-through rather than set-neck, with a brass sustain block set into the body beneath the bridge. That mass is the point: it lengthens sustain and tightens the attack relative to a set-neck double-cutaway, and gave the guitar the singing, compressed lead voice Santana used through the late 1970s.
