One side is an all-new Revv high-gain amp voice with a percussive, amp-in-a-box feel and 3-band EQ, distinct from the G3 or G4; the other is a tribute to the Boss HM-2's grimy, chaotic Swedish chainsaw tone that defined death metal's most aggressive scene. Blended together, the chainsaw side adds cut, character, and memorable edge to the traditional high-gain Amp circuit, functioning as a melodeath-in-a-box at full chainsaw mix or a more traditional metal and punk voice with the Amp circuit alone. It suits metal players wanting either a percussive modern high-gain amp tone, a raw HM-2-style chainsaw distortion, or a blend of both in one pedal.
The Tone City TC-T38 Metal Storm is a budget high-gain distortion voiced after the classic British black-and-gold high-gain amp sound, with a convincing amp-like feel and response. Unusually for its price it carries a full three-band EQ -- High, Middle and Low -- plus a Mid Boost function adding punch and focus for cutting through a mix, so it covers everything from a scooped modern metal rhythm tone to a mid-forward classic rock crunch. A built-in boost circuit on its own footswitch piles on extra grit and volume for leads. The distortion itself is tight and aggressive with plenty of saturation and sustain, suited to metal and hard rock rhythm playing. True bypass, 25mA draw, 9V centre-negative supply.
