The Spaceman Charon V2 Mod is a genuine circuit revision of the original Charon GE/SI Hybrid Fuzz, transforming what Spaceman describes as a milder fuzzstortion into a more intense, characterful ripper. Modifications give the germanium transistor a more dominant role in the circuit, adding significantly more texture and dynamic interaction to the fuzz, while the LOWS control was adjusted for more pronounced command over the original's low-frequency tone shaping. It also features a newly engraved faceplate design distinguishing it visually from the original and Gold versions.
The ThorpyFX Six Zero combines a fuzz circuit based on an original MKI Tone Bender with an early-design tremolo by Dan Coggins in one pedal. Rather than using germanium transistors, known for thermal instability and inconsistency, ThorpyFX built the fuzz side with silicon transistors specifically tuned to sound and respond as if they were germanium, aiming for classic Tone Bender character with modern reliability. Pairing a vintage-voiced fuzz with tremolo in one box gives players a specific combination of classic 1960s-style fuzz and vibrato/tremolo textures without needing two separate pedals.
