Similarity
citedBlended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.

Description

The ThorpyFX Pulse Doppler is an all-analogue twin-notch four-stage phaser developed with original Lovetone designer Dan Coggins, effectively a MkII of his 1995 Doppelganger in a far more compact and usable form. Multiple operating modes span classic phase shifting, pitch-wobbling vibrato, pure pulsating tremolo and a range of points in between. Depth, Rate, Blend, Enhance and Manual controls, plus two toggles and two footswitches, let it mimic the sweep of an MXR Phase 90 or an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone as well as Uni-Vibe throb and rotary-speaker shadings, though its overall tonality is brighter than a genuine '70s unit. Separate dry and wet outputs make it a true stereo effect, where its psychedelic swirl is most persuasive. It rewards learning rather than being plug-and-play. Built in a military-grade aircraft aluminium enclosure.

The Warm Audio Mutation Phasor II is a faithful clone of the Mu-Tron Phasor II from Warm Audio (Austin, Texas), capturing the vintage electro-optical phaser character of the original Mu-Tron Phasor II at the accessible $149 price point. Described as one of the cleanest, most subtle phasers available, it adds a tasteful phase modulation rather than the extreme jet-plane swoosh of many phasers, with interactive controls that reward nuanced adjustment.
