The Wren and Cuff De La Riva BM20-Ultra Fuzz is a highly configurable Big Muff-style fuzz built around 20 internal DIP switches, each offering two settings across nearly every stage of the circuit, plus three external toggles including a silicon/germanium transistor switch. Wren and Cuff states the DIP switches alone yield over a million possible configurations, growing to roughly 8 million with the toggles included. Without touching any switches it delivers familiar, low-noise Muff tones with strong presence. It is built for players who want to explore the full design space of the Big Muff circuit topology rather than a single fixed voicing.
The Wren and Cuff Tri-Pie '70 is a hand-built recreation of the early-1970s triangle-knob Big Muff Pi from the Los Angeles maker. Rather than chasing an exact parts-for-parts clone, Wren and Cuff blind-tested transistor combinations to find the sound truest to a '70s Muff, arriving at a voice with less saturation, less midrange scoop and more growl than later Muffs. That reduced scoop is the point: it keeps mid clarity and note definition where the original loses them, so chords stay readable and the fuzz still occupies space in a band mix. The result is a rich, creamy, smooth-sustaining vintage fuzz that turns genuinely nasty when pushed while holding note separation. Three controls -- Volume, Tone and Sustain -- set output, brightness and saturation.
