The ZVEX Fat Fuzz Factory expands on the original Fuzz Factory with five highly interactive controls, Volume, Gate, Compression, Drive, and Stab, where Stab can shift either the pitch of the pedal's oscillating squeal or the fuzz's tone depending on how the other controls are set. A three-way switch adds sub-harmonic intensity, progressively darkening and thickening the fuzz well beyond what the standard Fuzz Factory can reach. It's built for players chasing unique, roaring, and even oscillating fuzz textures rather than tightly controlled, velvety high-gain tones, excelling at sustain-heavy lead work over vintage-style rhythm playing.
The ZVEX Fuzz Probe is the Fuzz Factory circuit fitted with a theremin-style copper antenna plate, letting the player sweep one of its controls hands-free by moving a foot across the pedal's surface. The underlying Fuzz Factory is a germanium fuzz famed for being unstable by design: alongside conventional Volume and Drive it carries Gate, Comp and Stab controls that set the noise gate, starve the circuit's compression and destabilise the bias, producing everything from thick vintage sustain to gated, sputtering, dying-battery splatter and self-oscillating squeals and whistles. The Probe maps that behaviour to the proximity sensor, so oscillation pitch and fuzz character can be bent and swooped in real time.
