Bixonic Expandora

Bixonic · pedal

The Bixonic Expandora is a boutique Japanese distortion/fuzz pedal introduced in 1995, instantly recognizable by its hockey-puck shape. Internal dip switches select crunch, overdrive or distortion modes, plus a hidden 'Forbidden Fuzz' setting, covering everything from a light boost and fat bluesy overdrive through natural-sounding distortion to wild, over-the-edge fuzz. It is highly responsive to pick attack and rich in harmonics, and adapts to many guitars, pickups and even bass. Billy Gibbons famously chained six of them live as 'the Lap-Dog of Distortion', with the darker, thicker sound heard on ZZ Top's Rhythmeen. Joe Satriani and others have used it too.
