The Burns Double Six is a 12-string electric guitar first introduced in 1963 by the British maker Burns of London, fitted with the same Tri-Sonic pickups used in Brian Mays homemade Red Special. Brian May of Queen bought a Double Six specifically for those pickups and ended up writing the song Long Away, from A Day at the Races, around the guitar itself after the instrument inspired its riff. The same model was also played by Elvis Presley in the film Spin Out and by Hank Marvin of The Shadows.
