Gibson · electric guitar
The Gordie Johnson Signature SGJ was a limited run of only 50 guitars built in 2003 for the Canadian market, named for Gordie Johnson, singer and guitarist of the Canadian blues-rock band Big Sugar. The design grew directly out of Johnson's own gear history: he found a plain SG in a Toronto pawn shop and had it fitted with Gibson's hot, dirty P-94 single-coil pickups, and Gibson built the signature run on the '61 reissue SG platform in a rare ebony finish to replicate that personal instrument. Each guitar shipped with a Hugo Boss hardshell case and leather strap, and its rarity has made surviving examples collectible, with sales including one that passed through a member of the Black Crowes. This entry previously carried an incorrect artist link to Warren Haynes; it has been corrected to Gordie Johnson, whose own guitar the model is directly based on.
