The Hafler Triple Giant is a rackmount preamp designed by Reinhold Bogner, the respected boutique amp designer behind Bogner Amplification, bringing his signature high-gain voicing into a studio-grade rack format built by Hafler, a company otherwise known primarily for audio and stereo equipment rather than guitar amplification. Joe Satriani, whose career-long pursuit of singing, richly saturated lead tone has taken him through an unusually wide range of amp designs, has used the Triple Giant as part of his rig, drawing on its Bogner-voiced gain stages for the kind of dense, harmonically complex distortion his instrumental rock playing depends on.
