Blended from circuit-archetype lineage, dynamic feel, tone-signal overlap and tone-vector distance — the tone vector itself is derived from editorial description text, not a measured acoustic signal, so this reflects how similarly the catalog copy describes the two, not a lab measurement. Shown only within a gear class, and only where there's enough evidence to be meaningful.50% — somewhat different

Citation/mention fame — how often this gear is cited across artist rigs and gear discussion. The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 is a classic low-to-medium gain overdrive built around soft-clipping distortion with a prominent mid-frequency bump that rolls off low end. Ideal as a mid-focused boost into already-breaking-up amps or for players favoring a focused, punchy attack with a gentle cushion, it became a favorite for blues and rock.
The Klon KTR is Bill Finnegan's own reissue of the Klon Centaur, one of the most sought-after overdrive pedals ever built. It is a transparent overdrive: rather than coloring the tone with a mid hump like a Tube Screamer, it preserves the amp's natural character while adding thickness and a distinctive midrange lift, with clearer highs and significantly higher headroom than a compressed overdrive. At lower gain it works as a clean boost, pushing an amp's front end harder without breaking up the tone. As gain increases it moves through warm, rich overdrive into fuller distortion, with a metallic edge on the clip at maximum drive while staying open and uncompressed rather than choked. It suits blues, classic rock, and any style where an amp is already close to breakup and needs a focused push rather than a flavor change. A buffered/true-bypass switch is its only feature beyond the reissued circuit.
