Klon KTR
Klon · pedal
The Klon KTR is Bill Finnegan's own reissue of the Klon Centaur, one of the most sought-after overdrive pedals ever built. It is a transparent overdrive: rather than coloring the tone with a mid hump like a Tube Screamer, it preserves the amp's natural character while adding thickness and a distinctive midrange lift, with clearer highs and significantly higher headroom than a compressed overdrive. At lower gain it works as a clean boost, pushing an amp's front end harder without breaking up the tone. As gain increases it moves through warm, rich overdrive into fuller distortion, with a metallic edge on the clip at maximum drive while staying open and uncompressed rather than choked. It suits blues, classic rock, and any style where an amp is already close to breakup and needs a focused push rather than a flavor change. A buffered/true-bypass switch is its only feature beyond the reissued circuit.
