The Tech 21 SansAmp Character Plus Mop Top Liverpool is a two-in-one preamp pedal pairing a Vox-style amp emulation with a Rangemaster-style treble booster, effectively a stompbox within a stompbox. The amp side covers top-boost AC30 territory at two gain profiles, while winding the character control full up thickens the low mids for a non-top-boost AC30 voice. The booster is flat at noon and adds up to twelve decibels of treble boost clockwise for the brighter, edgier sixties and seventies lead sound. It works as a standalone preamp into a power amp, mixer or interface, or in front of an existing amp.
